Hot Takes: Getting to know Julia Marcell

Welcome to the feature; Hot Takes! We chat to a band or artist that we have unearthed as some what of a hidden gem and allow them the chance to introduce themselves to you, the reader.

Q1 – Who is in your band?

Thomas Fietz on drums, Thomsen Slowey Merkel on bass, Bartosz Staszkiewicz on keys. I sing and play keys and guitar.

Q2 – What is your take on your own sound?

Science-fiction

Q3 – If someone was listening to your music for the first time, what song would you tell them to listen to and why?

Cerebral Bliss” I like that one a lot and it’s the most representative of the album.

Q4 – What is the plan for 2020?

I’m working on a feature film “Skull Echo”. In 2020 I hope to have the screenplay ready to shoot and to begin working with actors.

Q5 – What is the one song you wish you wrote?

Just one? The SmithsThere Is A Light That Never Goes Out

Q6 – What three bands inspired or continue to inspire you the most?

Arvo Pärt, Radiohead, Taylor Swift

Q7 – Where can our readers see you live or listen to your music?

As this is the time of the pandemic, currently only on the internet and here’s the link:

Q8 – If your band was an animal, what would it be and why?

An owl – nocturnal, they fly silently, need a lot of space, have huge wings and can turn their heads 270 degrees. Then there’s also that fairy tale magic element to them that definitely appeals to me.
