Back in October, William Control released the first EP in a quadrilogy of more electronic vibes, entitled Revelations Part 1: The Pale EP. February 17th sees the release of part two; The Black EP. We got our hands on it for a listen and a dance so we can tell you what to expect.
Opening track Analog Flesh opens with trademark Will vocals and a very electronic heavy instrumentation. Talking of a digital girl, it has a very dancey vibe. All I Need has a slightly more old school William Control vibe, it’s catchy which is all I need (pun intended). Knife Play’s opening instrumental sounds a bit like something you’d expect to find over the stereos in Prizm on a Saturday night. Lyrically sinister especially with “she loves her night play, yeah she’s not alone” is catchy. Closing track Velvet Rose is a mellow, piano accompanied track which really shows off William’s vocals.
In all, this is a great follow-up to The Pale EP. While its predecessor had a more dance vibe, this still keeps in with that theme. This feels like more of a bridge between the first in the series and William Control’s previous records. If you are unsure of whether or not you like electronic stuff, this is definitely the EP you need to ease yourself in.
