Tremonti branch out into the world of concept records with their latest album A Dying Machine. Opening with the rifftastic Bringer Of War, we are off to a good start, with a mammoth chorus that will have you singing along. The titular track A Dying Machine is a catchy piece of metal with a mellow guitar solo. Throw Them To The Lions will go down well live, it’s fast paced and exciting. The First The Last is atmospheric.

The album is very Tremonti. While it is not necessarily a bad thing as Tremonti have a formula that works brilliantly for them, by releasing a concept album, it could have paved the way for a bit more experimentation like in the track Trust which takes on more of a metal ballad form. Mark Tremonti’s vocals perfectly fit every track, drummer Garrett Whitlock has a vital role in building atmosphere to assist the story throughout the album and does this exceptionally well while the riffs from both Tremonti and guitarist/bassist Eric Friedman fit in well.
