The Used are back with a brand new album titled The Canyon!
Opening the album with a heartfelt and emotional spoken word piece before opening into an equally emotional acoustic For You. Beginning a rock album with an acoustic is an odd choice but it provides a unique atmosphere. Cold War Telescreen brings the album into The Used we know and love.
Pretty Picture again begins and also ends with a spoken word, although not as emotional as the opener.
The raw passion and emotion that is conveyed in Bert’s vocal delivery really hits you in the feels and when combined with the honesty and vulnerability of the lyrics, focusing on topics including mortality, regret and life, provide what is probably one of the more emotional records of the year. If you’ve not been a fan of or never listened to The Used before, I highly suggest giving this a listen and it will most likely change your opinion on the band.
