Senses Fail released their seventh record If There is Light, It Will Find You on the 16th February this 12-track journey catalogues where these guys have been and are now. Life experiences for the band gives more fruit to their basket, especially as lead vocalist and co-founder James ‘Buddy’ Neilson recently became a father. The LP is full of meaning, as new light has entered the formation.

The band begin with ‘Double Cross’ a track driven by catchy guitar riffs, melodic and unclean vocals preparing their fans to what they can expect for the rest of the record.

The highly emotive ‘New Jersey Makes, The World Takes’ a strong powerful story of addiction. Watching people go through the throes of their own private hell, some never make it to the light. ‘Gold Jacket, Green Jacket’ and ‘First Breath, Last Breath’ continue the enveloping of emotions to music, with strong guitar riffs and ‘Buddy’s impressive vocals together with his lyrical prowess are emotional led, with the latter being heart wrenching. Buddy let it all out on this record. ‘Is It Gonna Be the Year’ paints a picture of touring with the band, travelling in vans across the States. “Is it gonna be the year that kills me, or is it gonna be the one that saves me?” The ferocious drumming joins passionate vocals of the story of touring, whether he’ll survive or make it.  The Classic rock guitar riff adds new dimension to this record.

Vulnerable lyrics showing darkness of emotions and isolation with ‘You Get So Alone at Times That It Just Makes Me…’ Explains how the mind plays tricks, our own mind captures self-doubt bringing on no self-esteem. This is powerful about issues some people won’t accept.

Senses Fail shows growth in the music they make and how James ‘Buddy’ Neilson a former party hard front man, has caught up with emotions, by caring for his family, he looks at his past but doesn’t stare at it.

Great stuff if you’re a Senses Fail fan.
