Brit metallers Renegade Twelve are pretty new to the scene, having formed in 2014, but in 2016 alone, have clocked up 100 shows on the road! The East Anglian quintet won me over with their energetic and entertaining live shows after seeing them playing alongside Speaking in Shadows and Elessar earlier this month, so I was very excited to get my hands on their debut album!

Opening track Mad Max begins with a riff that increases in intensity and immediately shows off the talent of the guitarists. The track is very catchy with great vocals. Forthcoming single Heroes Of Mine begins with an infectious riff and drum beat and has you singing along at the first listen. This is a track that transfers over well live.

Bipolar has a bit of an Alter Bridge feel to it, the hook is massive though! This Town has a Pantera vibe and while the riffs are slightly more tones down in this, focusing more on a strong drum beat, it is one of the most catchy tracks I’ve listened to all year. Lyrically Somme is quite haunting, a nod to the war dead. Yeah Boi sounds like a chavvy phrase you’d hear the teens that hang around the street corner saying, however the track is two minutes of pure instrumental gold.

Closing track Bill & Chief has a very calm, melodic opening, something that sounds completely out of place compared to the rest of the album. At first it seems as if it was just stuck on the end but grows into another monster track and shows the more melodic and atmospheric side to the band!

Throughout the entire album, there is some top notch guitar work, a strong drum/bass combo and soaring vocal melodies. There is a nod to the likes of Alter Bridge, Pantera, Killswitch Engage, Iron Maiden and Metallica throughout the record. Each track has a massive hook and insane guitar solos. There’s no doubt that the quintet will go far!
