Stoke-On-Trent alternative rockers In The Cards are gearing up for the release of their new EP Eyes Beyond Reflection on June 22. The five track record was recorded at Longwave Studios in Cardiff with acclaimed producer Romesh Dodagonda.

The smooth vocals of Amy Colclough intertwined with the melodic backings of guitarist/vocalist Danny Jones are nothing short of beautiful from the opening lyrics of Mazes to the closing of Hollow Hearts. The band took inspiration in their early days from the likes of Paramore and Tonight Alive to help them craft songs suited to a female vocalist (not that this was really going to be very hard for them to do with Amy’s vocal talent), Beautiful Silence has an air of Tonight Alive about it, however, unlike some bands, it is still 100% original. Very catchy with soaring melodies.

The percussion focused The Only Thing allows Conor Chambers to show off glimpses of his drumming ability and Amy’s melodic vocal abilities to be at the forefront. A good choice for the lead single of the EP, particularly as the instrumental is catchy.

This is a strong EP from a talented quartet with one of the most exciting female vocalists in the UK, this is shown throughout the record, but particularly in the minimalist Careful Eyes.
