Glass Giants/Adelphia/Everybody Looks Famous @ Clwb Ifor Bach

It’s a bittersweet night in Cardiff as Adelphia hit the infamous Womanby Street venue with fellow touring bands Everybody Looks Famous and Glass Giants. It’s bittersweet as the latter are taking an extended break and tonight doubles up as their hometown show. So for tonight, they take to the stage as headliners.

Up first is Swansea alt-rockers The Effect, the quartet play through tracks including new single Love, Hate and All That’s In Between. There are strong vocals and catchy melodies and showed why they have shared the stage with the likes of The Afterparty and Neck Deep.

Next comes Nuneaton alt-rockers Speaking in Shadows. A band I have been wanting to see for some time and they proved worth the wait! The quintet brought the energy as they play through tracks including BiteSplinters, my personal favourite Sweet Gemini and Capsized. With gritty riffs and technical drums coupled with a frontman who has an incredible vocal range and can work both the stage and the crowd, they’re a band that have abright future!

Tamworth pop-rockers Everybody Looks Famous take to the stage next. The quintet have catchy hooks and melodies and vocals perfectly sung by frontwoman Lex. They play through tracks including new single Something New and get the crowd interested.

Tour headliners Adelphia take to the stage as main support for tonight’s set. Powering through tracks including Chapters, Lost At Sea and Only Time Will Tell. Frontman Nicholas’ vocals are very tight and he has a great range. They worked the crowd well and kept everyone interested.

Finally, Glass Giants enter for one of their last shows, fittingly surrounded by fans, friends and family. There is a sing-a-long as they play through tracks including Dance, Up All Night and Seeing is Believing for the last time in Wales. Musically it is near-perfect and one of the best sets I’ve seen them play, such a shame that they are splitting but alas, that is the way of the music world.

Overall, a great gig with some of the UK’s best young talent.
