Ghost Iris are set to release Blind World on February 17. The Danish prog metallers were one of the most streamed Danish metal acts of 2016 and have come a long way since their formation in 2015, with this being their second record and they’ve toured Europe twice!

The increasing volume of the atmospheric first few bars of opener Gods of Neglect instantly grabs your attention, however the atmospheric section doesn’t last too long as you’re punched in the face by the sheer brutality of the breakdown and growl vocals! Save Yourself introduces clean vocals and has a more melodic feel throughout the cleans, switching back to brutality for the growls. Lead single Pinnacle is a more atmospheric track with great instrumentation overlayed by smooth clean vocal melodies, the cleans take more of a frontline in this track, with only a few growls throughout.

No Way Out brings the focus back to the growls and again they combine well with the cleans. Title track Blind World has a spoken word intro about the planet and then a couple of screams hit you. The instrumentation is light in comparison to the rest of the record and this short track is closed out with a continuation of the spoken word intro. It provides a bit of a welcome, calming break to the ears before Time Will Tell kicks in. Closing track Detached ends on a high with another perfect mix of guttural growls and melodic vocals.

This is a record that would be great live. The way both vocals mix together and compliment each other works really well. It’s heavy yet melodic in parts ad it isn’t hard to see why Ghost Iris are the most streamed Danish metal act.
