Essex easycore/heavy pop-punk mob Fortify have a new 5 track EP out titled Valhalla which will tug at the heartstrings for the UK pop punk scene looking to find new music.

What About Us starts with a washy guitar and drum track gradually the frequency becomes more clear when all the instruments make themselves known and female fronted rock music begins to grace the ears. A beautifully sung chorus which reminds me of classic Paramore days, with a nice melodic bridge which leads smoothly back to a final chorus. Following the exceptional start, Survivors flows right from the opening track with a hard hitting intro and a sweet clean verse and an ass kicking chorus reaching all the potential of high ranged vocal notes this young lady has some incredible talent, move over Hayley Williams because the UK has their very own.

Rumours keeping the rhythm going with a lead guitar standing above the main structure and a pacey verse to follow, as further into the track boasts a shredding guitar solo. Emergency Exit opening similar to the start of the record with a gradual emerging guitar, before closing in on an edgy lyrical structure and a catchy upbeat rhythm section before showing off the vocalists talents on high notes mixing with a mid-range giving a great blend within the track possibly proving to be the personal favourite of the release.

Closing with Strangers that still isn’t holding a thing back from the catchy head banging hooks that have been proven from start to finish of this EP, at the 3 minute mark you are believed to think it is over but slowing things down with an electronic drum beat, a melodic lead guitar and a soulful vocal pattern before finally giving it their all including screams over the top of a very impactful close to a release worthy of everyone’s time.

Fortify have their Valhalla EP release show on 28th October in London’s Hope & Anchor, and I encourage you to check this out and buy the EP.
