On Friday, Canvas released their new album Worry (Basick Records).

Opening with the almost acoustic Stay A While, the focus is purely on the lyrics which are delivered by beautiful vocals. This is definitely not the opening you would expect for a post-hardcore album but it creates an emotional atmosphere. As Low kicks in, it’s clear that the post-hardcore is still evident with the brutal track. Haunt You sees a return to the stripped back emotional tracks with an added atmospheric aspect with some screams over the top of the melodic cleans before the screams take over.

With the exception of Stay A While and Haunt You, the album is pretty much post-hardcore gold. The screams are tight and the instrumentation is brutal, however, there is an emotion brought on by the opening track and also with the lyrics throughout the record. Medicate Me and The Death Of Us are two of my favourite tracks on the album.
