Blindwish – Good Excuses

We have another ballad in The Maze, it has a more poppy feel lyrically, with some of the repetitive lyrics but it’s a great song nonetheless. Closer Echo plays on the title with some of the lyrics being repeated like an echo. It’s catchy and a great track although I don’t like when it comes […]

Blindwish are set to release their debut album Good Excuses on September 1. The rockers have that 00’s feel and have grabbed our attention here at AltCorner!

Opening track After Midnight has an interesting opening and kicks into some melodic vocals and good guitar work.. The track was co-written by John Feldmann and almost anything he touches turns to gold, including this track. Bittersweet is catchy.

Cold Shoulder brings a bit of aggro with a great opening riff and is a bit heavier than the previous three tracks. Down strips everything right back with an acoustic ballad, something that is becoming commonplace in rock records these days. This one though, works well as the vocals take centre stage and are beautiful. While being acoustic, it is a stand-out on the record, with its honest and deep lyrics. Infected‘s chorus is arena ready.

Closer Echo plays on the title with some of the lyrics being repeated like an echo. It’s catchy and a great track although I don’t like when it comes on as it means it’s the end of the album!

I’m finding it hard to actually describe the record, that’s a good thing though! Short of being repetitive in saying how brilliant it is, I have nothing to say except check it out for yourself! This is a record you should listen to! Especially if you’re into bands like Bayside and Taking Back Sunday. There are some of my favourite vocals of the year on this album!
