Ever wondered what your favourite artists think is the best song they’ve written? How about the meaning behind it? Well don’t fret because we at AltCorner have got you covered! Here Poets Of The Fall‘s Marko Saaresto takes us behind the scenes on his favourite song!

What is your favourite song you’ve written?

It’s always super hard to pick a favourite, when you love them all one way or another. At the moment we are very much in love with My Dark Disquiet, as it flows from mood to mood effortlessly, momentarily haunting, throwing you and then suddenly caressing. It also seems to work like riot when played live. So definitely one of our a top choices for the moment, if not the top choice.

What inspired the song?

The song’s story was inspired by the inner turmoil prevalent to the human condition. That inner struggle one has to come to terms with, in order to find peace and fulfillment. It was mostly written during a sleepless night, driving and singing to a recorder.

What is it about the track that makes it so special to you?

My Dark Disquiet has an interesting and a bit of a hair raising story behind it. The melody and lyrics, you see, were written separate to the magnificent orchestration accompanying it. This happened without either party knowing what the other was working on at the time. Only when we met at the studio and brought up our new ideas, did we realise what had transpired. The two separate themes fit each other perfectly. It’s so cool and creepy at the same time when that happens. We’ve had the same happen twice before. Just makes you go:”WTF?” 😆
