Southampton Metalcore outfit Deference are out to cause havoc with their high-energy, intense sound that’ll pummel your ear drums and increase your heart rate. Drawing influence from an array of metal and hardcore acts such as Parkway Drive and While She Sleeps, Deference are all about creating the meatiest of breakdowns, the most erratic of riffs and sharp vocals with extra bite.

Having formed in 2014, the quintet set about recording their debut EP ‘XXXVII‘ at Envy Studios and have since continued to develop their sound and deliver it to crowds across the south coast, ensuring that their live performance matches the adrenaline felt within their music.

Notching up some already impressive live shows, alongside Palm Reader, Lock & Key, Falling With Style and fellow Southampton metallers Our Hollow Our Home, Deference are already making a name for themselves as one of the hottest newcomers in the metal scene right now.

Hi I'm Gareth, A foolish Welshman that has found himself living in Scotland. I adore live music and this all started back in University when a friend dragged me along to my first gig and I saw Travis. From then on I spent a lot of time going to see bands from rubbish uni bands that had formed one drunken night to the mighty Blur. When I finished uni there was a 10 year gap between gigs (long story). Now though, on any given day of the week I can be found in the venues of Glasgow. With regards to my music taste I love anything with great lyrics and heavy drums. When I was younger (and still am) I was obsessed with a band called Alisha's Attic.
When not at a gig I will be found at my computer playing games like Prison Architect, Hearthstone and Wolfenstein.
