Liverpudlian rockers Queen Zee & The Sasstones have been announced to play at Reading & Leeds festivals! To celebrate, the band have revealed the video for new single Boy, taken from their forthcoming EP Eat My Sass (September 22).

Queen Zee says of the announcement and single; “We’re very happy to be bringing a bit of noise to the BBC Introducing stage at Reading and Leeds this year. The Sass Gang won’t be pulling any punches.”

“Boy is an outsider anthem – it’s about how people are so eager to make you into what they want you to be. Whether that’s your gender or sexuality or just how you dress. The lyric ‘you can try and bury my head in the sand, but that won’t make the body at the surface a man’s’ really sums it up. No matter how much someone wants to be a certain way, you are what you are and we should celebrate that not tear it down.”

“The video revolves around identity. There are masks and a “ghost queen zee” – I’m fascinated by masks and the idea of privacy, especially when we live in a world of social media and everyone’s identity has to become almost a brand image of themselves. We had a lot of fun, and tried to represent the darker side to it”
