It’s time to get to know Kinjiru! We set 10 questions to find out Kinjiru‘s likes, dislikes and guilty pleasures…

How would you describe your taste in music?

Extremely eclectic! You never know if it’s going to be Machine Head, The Beach Boys or Imelda May blasting out of my car!

Who do you consider to be your favourite band and why?

OMG – that’s a tough one.  I guess it would have to be Y&T.  I’ve been a massive fan of theirs since the 80s and I just love Dave Meniketti’s guitar playing.

Who is the best live band you’ve ever seen?

Damn, that’s another difficult one! From a performance point-of-view and sheer entertainment, I’d have to go with Twisted Sister.

What is the one song that you could listen to forever?

Mean Streak by Y&T

What album, if any, was a turning point in your ‘musical life’ and why?

Shout at the Devil by Motley Crue because they sung about the underbelly of LA and the style of the lyrics was almost like sub-culture street poetry at the time

In 3 words, what makes a good album or song?

FINALLY! A relatively easy question!!! Sincerity, originality and integrity.

A festival or a gig? Why?

Festival every time.  Tickets for tours are so expensive now, it’s just better value-for-money to pay £150 for a five day camping holiday that also includes a great line-up of bands

Who would be your dream 3 festival headliners?

Oh man… if I were putting on my own festival, it would be Rob Zombie, Five Finger Death Punch  and Maiden.

Who are the best new band you’ve discovered lately that everyone should know about?

I’m not sure how new they are but I totally love Texas Hippie Coalition

What band or artist is your secret, or not so secret, guilty pleasure?

Abba.  There, I said it.  In all honesty though, I spend as much time listening to the arrangements and the production as the songs because they have so much going on in them!
