It’s February which means the shops are full of cheesy cards and presents for your loved ones for Valentines Day. Now while we think that you should be telling and/or showing your loved ones just how much you appreciate them all year round, not just on one day (or two if you live in Wales as we have our own St Dwynwen’s Day on January 25th too!), we’re getting in on the mushy stuff by writing love letters to our favourite bands! First up is writer Will Pearce;
A Love Letter To… Mest,
During the better part of my teenage years, I discovered your punk/rock beauty, which built up a huge part of my life even to this day. I was bummed out when you announced the demise of the band without having the chance of experiencing a live show.
Flash-forward several years Tony Lovato announces a few Mest shows in the UK, (well, Tony and friends, playing Mest songs). You bet I booked tickets for a couple of shows over the country without planning accommodation! Heading to the shows, I’m more than excited, to witness something I’d never imagined I’d get the chance to have. Not only did I get the chance of hanging out like a huge fan boy meeting his favourite band, you announced onstage “Our friend, Will needs a place to crash” both shows attended, in which successfully kept me off the streets of London and Manchester. For that, I will always be thankful, but more so, because of the London show, I met the love of my life to be. Our connection was through the love of Mest, and will always be my story to tell.
So guys, how about another round of the UK? What’s The Dillio? Stop being so Jaded, go back to the Drawing Board, and act like a Fuct Up Kid get your ass in that Cadillac.
With Love,
Will Pearce.
