The UK music scene is thriving and there are a wide variety of bands and music scenes across the country just waiting to be discovered. Here at Alt Corner we thought we’d share with you some of the best bands from our local areas. Today it’s the turn of Laura, Head of Features who gives us the run down on Gloucestershire and The South West.

Elessar

Gloucester quartet Elessar are the self described, gritty emo/punk band that you should know about. Not so quietly, they’ve been making waves across the local music scene and their passionate style has gained them many fans. They’re ones to keep an eye on for sure.

St Pierre Snake Invasion

If you like your music loud, then The St Pierre Snake Invasion are for you. This heavy punk band don’t hold back whatsoever and those vocals can be heard a mile off. Regulars at Cheltenham’s 2000 Trees Festival, the band always put on a show and if you get the chance to see them live, do it – you’re certainly going to remember it.

Andy Oliveri & the Mountaineers

A staple of the Cheltenham music scene, Andy Oliveri & the Mountaineers, have all the dreamy indie rock vibes. With heavy influences from the late 80s and early 90s, there are synths and smooth guitar sounds all over the place – and we can’t get enough. Imagine late summer evenings in a pub garden; this is the soundtrack that you’d want.

Soeur

After catching All Ears Avow at last years Underground Festival, we were hooked. Having only been together since 2013, the band have already seemed to have figured out what they’re about; good solid English rock. Having supported Milk Teeth at their album launch last year, the band have already picked up some incredible support from some of the UKs most exciting bands and gained plenty of fans in the process. Get involved.
