Gemma Rogers of Gemma and the Mil Men has released her single “Stop”. Now I’ll be surprised if you lot haven’t heard of the Londoner before as I have and Gemma with her band the Mil Men have created wordy, humorous and dark tracks in the past with Jenny Peters and The Escape two emotive and powerful tunes. They also opened the Camden Rocks Festival a few years back.
If you’re a fan of Patti Smith, Ian Dury, Mike Skinner and Poeticat then you’ll love Gemma Rogers, who has the talent to make you hear every word she speaks/sings.
“Stop” is about addiction overuse of social media. It’s true, you come out the underground tunnel, the first thing anyone does is pull out their phone to tell Facebook how it feels being in that tunnel, or tweet with hashtag #SweatyCentraline or put a pic on Instagram of your pouty self with the words “It’s hot”. Anyway, enough of what’s happening in my head, get listening to the tune below.
Check out the video below and follow Gemma for gig information and EP release as “Stop” is out now, obviously only follow for that and not in a non-stalkerish way.
