Chatting With Derek DiScanio From State Champs
State Champs returned to the UK for a set on the main stage at Reading and Leeds festival. Before that however, there was the small matter of a sold-out headline show at the Underworld and also a sold-out acoustic set alongside fellow Reading/Leeds attendees Sleeping with Sirens. I caught up with frontman Derek DiScanio before their acoustic set to chat about the success of Around the World and Back, Warped Tour, the recently announced March 2017 UK tour and Dereks favourite Disney character.

“We approached him with the idea of a tranquil lake with someone looking out over it. He was brilliant with his water colour paint work, so we asked if he could keep the colouring simple and apply that affect. The use of a canoe came about when we saw a photograph whilst on tour last year and from that moment we had the cover image made up in our minds. We gave him the idea’s and colour scheme we wanted to work with and from then on he went away and did his thing”.

Shield Fest II (FVK/More Than Most/Junior + more) @ Hobos, Bridgend
A very emotional night but it showed that FVK are going to go on and have plenty of success in their future ventures. A very good festival overall which organiser Adam Tibbs should give himself a pat on the back for! Now to count down the days until the next Shield Fest!

SWMRS announce UK dates!
Those pop-punkers in SWMRS have announced a run of UK dates following their debut Reading and Leeds festival appearances! The dates start in Birmingham on the 29th August and run through to London on the 8th September. 2016 has been a massive year for the quartet from Bay Area with the release of debut album Drive North in February which has been critically acclaimed across the world.

Those lovely pop-punkers in As It Is have released the recording of their Fearless Family Gathering sesion. The intimate session saw stripped-back, acoustic versions of Dial Tones, Winters Weather and My Oceans Were Lakes performed for a small group of very lucky people!
