Hardcore Music GENRE ARCHIVES

Death Blooms – You Are Filth

According to other people, Death Blooms are a big thing for the UK hardcore scene, so the release of their new EP 'You Are Filth' is an important point for the band. Having only 4 songs, however, means they have to deliver the goods. And they do, but theres a few bads in there too.

New Years Day – Unbreakable

New New Years Day record 'Unbreakable' comes after a dissatisfied band scrapped a tonne of songs and set out to write a new batch, all ready to explode and show both the band's anger and pride. Costello wanted to go somewhere different, and she has.

Sometimes you can judge what a show is going to be like by the crowd. Dream State at the Key Club in Leeds was one of those shows.

Single Mothers are heading out on a UK tour in July!

Lotus Eater – Social Hazard | EP Review

Lotus Eater's new EP 'Social Hazard' is a 7 track fast paced angry extravaganza of biblical proportion. The song lengths are consistently short, which works far better for this metalcore outfit, especially from the point of view of someone who doesn't listen to the genre. And that's not because it's over fast. It's because it actually makes it feel accessible rather than overpowering. After reviewing I expected to find myself in a cold sweat, but in actual fact, I was only slightly too warm.

Trash Boat to head out on UK and EU headline tour

Trash Boat will be bringing chaos around the UK and Europe later this year!

While She Sleeps – So What?

While She Sleeps have certainly had a bumper couple of years. Following the massive (and somewhat unexpected!) success of 2017’s entirely self and fan-funded “You Are We”, released on their own Sleeps Brothers Records, which netted them a best album win at the Heavy Music Awards and a top ten album in the UK charts, you’d think it might be pretty hard for Sheffield’s masters of metallic hardcore to keep the momentum going.

Climate of Fear – The Onset Of Eternal Darkness

Climate of Fear are an emerging talent from the UK who offer a new take on melodic death metal. The five piece have began to create quite a reputation for themselves combining a plethora of genres that ebb and flow between metal, beatdown and hardcore - forming a full arsenal of riffs, punishing vocals and ear shattering meltdowns.

Black Coast – Ill Minds Vol II

Formed in Stoke on Trent in 2016 this melodic hardcore quintet, Black Coast have burst their way on the scene with Ill Minds Vol 1 in 2018 and we, at AltCorner have their follow up Ill Minds Vol 2 due for release 8th March 2019.

Mastiff – Plague | ALBUM REVIEW

”A miserable band from a miserable town”. That is how Mastiff summarise themselves on their social media. I've never been to Hull, but if Mastiff are the aural representation of the town, then I'm not sure I want to visit. This is a band who specialise in brutality, whether that be when they utilise extreme pace or, more often, the thudding grinding groove that propels their particular brand of sludgy grinding heaviness.
