Following the release of their new single Give Me A Reason, we caught up with WRTHLESS to talk about the track!

How has the release of Give Me A Reason gone?

Great! It’s only our second single released but we’ve had some fantastic feedback from peers, band friends and even had spins on the likes of Amazing radio by Jim Gellatly who even named it his “Track of the Day”!

What was the inspiration behind the single?

When we started writing the track it was another “miss you” song about a lost love but the more we dug deep into it the angrier and more cathartic the subject matter got and it morphed into what we hear now, a lot more “FU”.

Is it a good indicator of what your future work will sound like?

This was one of the tracks we wrote when we had started discovering our sound and were gelling together as a band. By this point we had a solid technique for when it came to building songs from a skeleton idea to the finished track. Since writing this though we’ve only gotten more comfortable and confident so you can expect future releases to have the same feel to this track but just, well, better!

What bands were you influenced by growing up?

All of us have had various different musical influences growing up and even today but the bands that we all share in common and bonded over are your big hitters like Green Day, Blink 182 and Sum 41.

What is your dream support slot?

We all might have varying ideas on a dream support but the one we all share has got to be Blink-182! They’re the big arena pop-punk band and supporting them would be the greatest and most rewarding experience.

If you could play any venue in the UK which would it be?

You can’t mention UK Venues without mentioning the Barrowland Ballroom. It’s such a prestigious place that’s hosted countless incredible bands that it would be an incredible honour to say we’ve played there. Not to mention it has the Tennents Can table which is a gig goers best friend.

What are your plans for the near future?

The same thing we try to do every night Pinky, Try to take over the world. We’ve recently signed with Reaction Management who have likes of Altered Sky, The Ronains, Magic Trik, Take Today & Fear Me December on their roster, so we’re hoping that this is the next big step for us and can elevate us up in the terms of standing as a band. Big shows and big releases are on the radar so watch this space! Sheer world domination is the goal!
