SOUND DROWN TAKE ON THE A-Z QUESTIONNAIRE CHALLENGE

March 13, 2018 |

Following the release of their newest single, a rendition of “Kiss The Girl”, we asked Sound Drown to tell us more about themselves using our A-Z challenge!

A SONG WHICH MADE YOU WANT TO MAKE MUSIC:

BRANDON: Dammit by Blink-182
NICK: Dreams by Van Halen
JUSTIN: Never Too Late by Three Days Grace
DREW: Breaking The Habit by Linkin Park

BEST RIDER YOU HAVE EVER HAD:

Campobello Island Fogfest, hands down. Everyone at that festival treats you like royalty and it was
hands-down one of the best experiences as a band, ever.

CRAZIEST MOMENT YOU’VE EXPERIENCED IN THE BAND:

Being drunk on a beach at 4 in the morning, eating pizza with other bands and random people from
Fogfest and then proceeding to almost freeze to death at our campsite because the only person who
brought a sleeping bag was Brandon.

DEEPEST LYRICS ONE OF YOUR SONGS FEATURES:

That One Song features lyrics about coming to terms with a toxic relationship you care too much
about to leave.

EASIEST SONG YOU WROTE:

M.E.G.I.A.L, written in 5 minutes.

FAVOURITE SONG IN YOUR SET:

BRANDON: Fault Line
NICK: Sugar, We’re Goin’ Down
JUSTIN: Runaway
DREW: Kiss The Girl

GUEST YOU’D MOST LIKE TO FEATURE ON YOUR RECORD:

BRANDON: Tom DeLonge
NICK: Will Swan
JUSTIN: Jacoby Shaddix
DREW: Bruno Mars

HARDEST THING ABOUT BEING IN A BAND:

NICK: Brandon
JUSTIN: Brandon
DREW: Brandon

INTERESTING FACT ABOUT ONE OF YOUR MEMBERS:

Half of the band doesn’t know how to play chords.

JOKES YOU HAVE IN THE BAND:

There are so many running jokes, but none of them are safe to write on this questionnaire.

KEY TO WRITING A SONG:

Usually D.

LONGEST DISTANCE YOU’VE TRAVELLED TO PLAY A SHOW:

Charlottetown, PEI; 300km there, 300km back, all in one day.

MOST INSPIRING MUSICIAN YOU’VE EVER EXPERIENCED:

BRANDON: Gene Simmons
NICK: Rick Ryan, my dad
JUSTIN: Jacoby Shaddix
DREW: Chester Bennington

NEW BAND YOU’D RECOMMEND:

BRANDON: Citizen Zero
NICK: Melonvine
JUSTIN: Waterparks
DREW: Too Close To Touch

NICK: A Day To Remember
JUSTIN: Waterparks

QUOTE THAT YOU’D LIKE TO PASS ON TO READERS:

“Have you ever had a dream that you, um, you had, your, you- you could, you’ll do, you- you wants,
you, you could do so, you- you’ll do, you could- you, you want, you want them to do you so much
you could do anything?”

REASON FOR THE TITLE OF YOUR RECENT/FORTHCOMING RELEASE:

As far as “Dino Droppings” goes, Brandon got very intoxicated and thought it would be funny to have
an album named after a quote from Dr. Ian Malcolm from Jurassic Park.

SEE US LIVE AT:

We have shows planned, but none officially confirmed because we’re in the process of writing a new
album.

THE OLD DAYS OF MUSIC WERE BETTER THAN THOSE CURRENT, DO YOU AGREE:

BRANDON: I can see where some people may think that, but I feel that the world needs to move on
and evolve and that it’s only going to get better from here.
NICK: I disagree, I think that the directions that some genres are taking are making waves in new
music and I’m excited to see where it might bring us.
JUSTIN: I disagree, old music bores me. As much as people don’t want to admit it, right now is one of
the most exciting times to be a part of music, because of the internet and technical advancements
that we’re making.
DREW: I disagree, I don’t believe music is meant to be in a set direction, that it’s meant to evolve
and us with it, just like humanity.

UNUSUAL MERCHANDISE:

Nothing unusual yet, but we have a new merch line coming out this year that you can watch for!

VARIATIONS YOU’D LIKE TO DO ON ANY OF YOUR SONGS:

Acoustic renditions are always fun to do, and we’d all like to do down-tuned versions of our songs.

WHAT DO YOUR FANS MEAN TO YOU:

Without our fans or supporters, we wouldn’t be able to do what we’re doing right now. They feed
off our energy, which makes us play harder and give it all whenever it comes time to play a show!

X-RAYS OR ANY OTHER TREATMENTS NEEDED FOR BAND RELATED INJURIES:

Nick has dislocated his shoulder at a couple of venues, nothing too major. Drew had a incident in
2016 where he did some major damage to his right leg, and was unable to record/play for 7 months
while he recovered.

YOU’RE LATE FOR A SHOW, WHO’S FAULT IS IT:

ALL SIMULTANEOUSLY: BRANDON!!!

ZOO ANIMAL THAT BEST DESCRIBES THE PERSONALITY OF YOUR BAND:

Tyrannosaurus Rex
