A to Z of Milestones

One of the most promising bands amongst the UK scene at the moment take on an A-Z interview!

Averaging an age of just 18 (17 when they wrote and recorded Equal Measures in 2014, with former Bring Me The Horizon/now All Time Low sound guy Phil Gornell), Milestones have meticulously constructed five songs that positively belie their young age and relative inexperience; Equal Measures is the glorious, compelling sound of raw, natural talent put to the test, tracks such as anthemic single ‘Nothing Left’ offering up simple but soaring melodies that tingle the nape of your neck and leave you totally hooked. Here they answer the A-Z interview…

A Song Which Made You Want To Make Music: Definitely I’m Not Okay – My Chemical Romance, its a classic!

Best Album Ever Written: Impossible to say but Michael Jacksons Thriller has to be in most peoples top 10.

Craziest Moment You’ve Experienced In The Band: People who know ALL the words to our songs is always a crazy moment

Deepest Lyrics One Of Your Songs Features: “I told myself I wouldn’t ever get this way”

Easiest Song You Wrote: Our vocalist Matt wrote the acoustic track ‘Counterweight’ which came together really quickly

Favourite Show You’ve Ever Played: Our first ever show supporting the boys in Roam!

Guest You’d Most Like To Feature On A Your Record: If i could choose anyone it’d have to be Josh Franchesci

Happiest Moment In You’ve Experienced In The Band: Finishing our Debut EP and being really proud of how we all came together to make it happen, it is probably the most effort I’ve ever put into anything so when it came back after mixing and mastering it was a great time for us all

Interesting Fact About One Of Your Members: Our vocalist Matt is literally obsessed with Coronation Street.

Jokes You Have In The Band: On our tour earlier this year we headed out with a Scottish Pop Punk band called ‘Yeah Detroit’ and it got to the third day of the tour in Liverpool and we knew them pretty well by this point, really cool guys. There was a local band opening the show that night and they were an Emo/Grunge outfit and they went down pretty well, but the vocalist of Yeah Detroit just comes out of nowhere when the room is silent and loudly exclaims, “They were alright, but they weren’t quite Title Fight” and for some reason that was the funniest sentence i had ever heard out loud, especially in a Scottish accent. So that is the running joke in the band at the moment and i genuinely think it will never get old.

Kicking Off Your Set Is Best With Which Song: Actually we have a live intro which runs into a song we wrote exclusively to play live which doesn’t have a name just yet!

Longest Distance You’ve Travelled To Play A Show: On our tour earlier this year, we travelled up to Edinburgh from Bridlington which was super far but not too bad of a drive, but after the show we drove straight home from Edinburgh to Manchester in one stint and with everyone being super tired and bummed out because the tour was over, that was pretty bleak!

Most Inspiring Musician You’ve Ever Experienced: I always feel inspired when I see my friends bands around me doing well or I see them getting the recognition they deserve so instead of dropping a big name here, shout out to everyone who is playing in bands for the love of being in the music scene and making a difference, they are the ones who inspire me!

New Band You’d Recommend: A UK Band by the name of Crooks are releasing their Debut album later this year and I’m super excited about that

Opening For This Band Would Be Ideal: Opening for somebody massive would be incredible so probably someone like Don Broco or You Me At Six

Place You’d Most Like To Tour: America all day, Vans Warped Tour!

Quote That You’d Like To Pass On To Readers: #MilestonesMovement

Reason For The Title Of Your Recent/Forthcoming Release: The reason why our Debut EP is titled Equal Measures is because we are all at a point in our life where we have to make choices which are going to send us down our respective paths in life and were all trying to find our place in the world and to me Equal Measures represents trying to keep a healthy balance of what you want and what you need in your life to make you happy – It can mean whatever you want it to mean as long as it does mean something to you, thats all that matters.

See Us Live At: Pinky Swear Records Festival, Fury Fest and Empire Fest

The Old Days Of Music Were Better Than Those Current,  do you agree: I’m going to have to disagree because today’s music is a reflection and a bi-product of everything that has come before it – Also, we haven’t been around that long, so I am going to have to defend the team and say new!

Unusual Merchandise: A good friend and fan of the band photo shopped our Bass players head onto a Beyblade because hes always spinning around onstage. I don’t think anybody will top this!

Variations You’d Like To Do On Any Of Your Songs: I’m pretty happy with how they all are, if we wanted any changes they would have been made in the studio

What Bands Have You Seen Live and Regretted: Attila. The less said about that the better

X-rays or any other treatments needed for band related in juries: Our bass player Mark messed his hand and arm up pretty bad by punching his bass and the floor a lot but that’s a pretty regular occurrence now

You could have written any song in history, which would you pick: Let It Be – The Beatles

Zoo animal that best describes the personality of your band:  Definitely a sloth, think what you want about that one!
