Download fever hit Donington Park as thousands of rock and metal fans descended on the spiritual home of rock for the annual three-day event.
You’re first greeted by friendly stewards and security, with thei heightened security presence a welcome sight. It’s also dry for most of the weekend, something very rare for what is affectionately called ‘Drownload’!
Everyone is in good spirits throughout the weekend, making the most of the various bars, sunshine, taking in the various activities on offer including fairground rides, and stilt walkers, not forgetting of course, the main attraction in the music with huge crowds at every set throughout the weekend!
In recent years, Download has also become a second home to WWE’s NXT wrestling, with several shows going on throughout the weekend, all attracting crowds much bigger than the tent could hold. The wrestlers were also regular attendees to various sets throughout the weekend, getting involved in several pits across the weekend.
Once the night’s entertainment finished in the arena, it was the turn of the campsite village to provide the late night/early morning party with shows including the Circus Of Horrors and the ever popular headphone disco which saw the tent packed each night as the two channels competed for listeners, playing hits from the likes of Pantera, My Chemical Romance and even getting poppy with Natasha Bedingfield (yes, we’re looking at you Si!) There’s conga lines going around the room and even mosh pits to tracks from All American Rejects. The party never truly stopped!
Yet again Download, you’ve put on a weekend to remember (no matter how much alcohol was consumed). We’ll see you next year!
